What gets my goat is ‘clever’ people like Sunak, Cameron joining in and not looking at the evidence. Ah wait, they both have Oxford PPEs so assume they can talk persuasively with no subject matter knowledge.

Too right. And the polarising effect on public option especially when respected public figures- who dare I say it are biased towards screening for their own reasons- join in. This is not how unbiased, evidence led decision making works- or at least should work.

Well that makes the House of Commons redundant for starters.

Value is the right perspective. Value for individuals and populations, value for the taxpayer.

I mean of course the NHS isn’t ’free’. That’s about as nonsensical a notion as saying the NHS is blue, or made of cornflakes.

‘Free at the point of delivery’ is the phrase you might have been reaching for.

Doctors- esp generalists- can’t keep all relevant information in their heads. Decision support tools can help, tho use is variable. Yet whenever I want I can have a great convo with chatGPT about my cardiac condition. Increasingly, people like me are going to rely more on AI than on clinicians.

Bravo Charlie.

There is evidence that clinicians who are empathetic are less vulnerable to burnout. It’s correlation not causation though.

This is why it is very important to design targets very carefully so they align with the goals you want to achieve.
