From an Aussie point of view, I would suggest the UK:

1. Rejoin the EU asap.
2. Ditch the Pound and adopt the Euro
3. Ditch all remaining imperial measurements and go fully metric

Indeed. And labelling it “welfare” let’s wealthier older people and media blame younger people who have never had if worse in terms of a social contract/opportunity

I like the Sisyphus/prometheus analogy… but it’s so damned self-inflicted/self perpetuating. It’s clear a strong anti-Brexit consensus exists but very few leading politicians are joining the dots, providing leadership, especially wrt directly related tax increases

EU doesnt need to do anything, it holds all the cards. Its the UK that needs to pull the finger out and act, this is a problem entirely of its making.

‘Formed a union’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
Plantation, conquest and partition first... the constitutional niceties came much later
