Legitimate is doing a fair bit of work there don't you think?

when she stopped saying "keep talking like that if you want to get Trump elected."
December 9, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Cool I mean "words speak louder than actions" ig?
December 9, 2025 at 4:26 AM
This is the bolder move. Kamala tried to kowtow to extremists and we saw where that got her.
December 9, 2025 at 4:25 AM
anyway that's exactly what he's talking about, you're making his point for him. he didn't "dehumanize a whole class of people" and acting like he did is the exact kind of ridicule worthy "discourse" he's talking about.
December 9, 2025 at 4:25 AM
we're literally talking about standards of care for menopause and peri-menopause?
December 9, 2025 at 4:22 AM
See this is what he's talking about, even the slightest deviation from orthodoxy means I'm the devil.
December 9, 2025 at 4:07 AM
It's not that, it's that it makes him vulnerable to being attached to all manner of stuff. He's got to express that he has boundaries.
December 9, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Do you think these aren't great things that he said? That's legitimate. Do you think saying them negates his record? Not so much.
December 9, 2025 at 4:04 AM
That's exactly right. Diversity is not extremist. Calling people with Newsom's actual record "transphobes", on the other hand, very much is.

That's the distinction he's trying to make. Just like saying you didn't like how the Oct. 7th war is going isn't the same as calling Kamala a murderer.
December 9, 2025 at 4:04 AM
Actually quite the opposite, just like Obama had to do in 2008.

Either he rejects the extremists or he ends up owning their extremes.
December 9, 2025 at 3:40 AM
That would have been a thing to do if CA hadn't moved 8 points to the right in 2024.

But it did, so it's not on the table any longer.
December 9, 2025 at 3:34 AM
the whole point of this exercise is that I don't want to vote for someone who rolls over for extremists, even if they played Storm.
December 9, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Yeah I mean that's how it goes. He's clearly decided it's better to reject that faction and not scare people away.

When I look at what he signed/didn't this year it's absurd to insinuate he's a transphobe, so it's correct for him to reject people who say so.
December 9, 2025 at 2:47 AM
It almost seems like the lesson he took from the Harris campaign is that if you don't reject your extremists you'll own all of their wildest extremes. Or in other words, how many people refused to vote for Kamala because she didn't stand strong against the anti-Israel crowd.
December 9, 2025 at 2:44 AM
I will say that stuff is pretty troubling, but like, that's what the election demanded.
December 9, 2025 at 2:40 AM
Lol he was talking about that on Colbert and for sure he knows it ruffles feathers, but this sort of thing was locked in by the last election
December 9, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Ya the last part of that is true and correct. All I can say about the first half is, to a large degree, his success depends on people thinking other people think so even if it's not true.
December 9, 2025 at 2:30 AM
Folks like Scott Weiner (running for Pelosi's seat atm) really swing for the fences to get the most favorable legislation and some of it doesn't make it. Like we understand that it's hard to find a LGBT psychiatrist but waiving the qualifications to let just anyone go and do it isn't the way.
December 9, 2025 at 2:29 AM
The situation on the ground is a bit more complex
December 9, 2025 at 2:27 AM
Ok but Newsom did more to promote Trans inclusion in October of this year than Bernie has done in his whole life
December 9, 2025 at 2:26 AM
It is the same thing. Bunch of 12 year olds saying "I didn't get everything I wanted for xmas, daddy must hate me"
December 9, 2025 at 2:24 AM
This is true and correct.
