When you have a decent NETWORK of protected cycle infrastructure, people will use them. Just look at the Netherlands. A short protected one that gives up to paint ain't good as people won't want to cycle in the painted one. As the saying goes 'a good cycle infra is only as good as the weakest piece'

The only reason they really want to get rid of the shelter is because you can actually sit down in it. They prefer disabled and elderly people to perch agains those stupid 6inch semi tube things.

Proper shelters although people to rest properly

To increase walking and cycling we need to change behaviour radically. White lines on roads are not enough. The whole urban road structure would have to be rebuilt. Certain types of car would be discouraged. On street parking removed. It’s a massive project.
