We need to do something to quash the trend of making it effectively mandatory to carry a computing device with a radio on you at all times that has software controlled by one of two companies and treats the person carrying it like an adversary.

TL;DR: the *actual* poverty line in the US for a family of four with two young children is about $140,000, and there isn't much improvement in quality of life between $40K and $100K.

The first camera I bought with my own money, I bought used from a man in Brooklyn with a numbered tattoo on his arm.

He told me a story of how Leica sent Jews to America with Leica cameras to make them “sales” people. The goal was to rescue them and get them out of Germany.

I bought that camera.
