Apologies for the Substack link but this piece is worth it. It revisits the poverty line calculation from 1963 and comes up with a modernized answer of **$140,000**, vs the $31,200 value used.

TL;DR: the *actual* poverty line in the US for a family of four with two young children is about $140,000, and there isn't much improvement in quality of life between $40K and $100K.
