I have a new nightmare intersection to go with my new commute.

You get to either
a) stop at a red light, far out of the car’s field of view, and then need to accelerate and merge into the traffic because no bike lane.
b) merge with cars going 40+mph because the bike lane ends at the intersection.

quiet night in the garage
a small electronic pot of melted grey wax sits, gently bubbling. A wire loop is submerged, with a small handle held above the wax by a Park Tools chain wear gage that sits across the pot. This is a chain waxing setup, and there’s presumably a bike chain under the wax, acquiring a fresh coat of lubricant.

I cannot emphasize enough how much sunset commute week rocks

We have entered the week where my commute becomes a race against the sun, before time change this weekend turns it into nighttime.

pretty phenomenal week.

looks pretty good though
the hottest mountain bike of 1991, a titanium Merlin Mountain leans against a railing in front of a marina, sun setting just behind. The bike is a matte-ish titanium, with black and turquoise anodized accents. Because I can’t help myself, it also sports a front pizza rack.

Bike to the farmers market, dodge the parking and traffic mayhem, get some fresh air and sun in!

I have a new contender for worst bike rack I’ve ever seen

I paid for the whole bike path, I’m gonna use the whole bike path.

A bike parked to next to the “bike path ends” sign at the other end of the Marvin Braude bike path. The bike is pale yellow, and slightly grimy with beach dust, almost like it’s just ridden 25 miles next to the beach.

commute via bike continues to be great
