There's this really funny bug that's been in Steam for ages if your system language is set to Japanese:

The button on the bottom right of Steam's native updater should say "Cancel" (キャンセル), but for some reason it says "Can" (キャン)…

While both have been updated for "rootless" mode jailbreaks (※ internally, not yet public), there seems to be some sort of IPC issue on Dopamine specifically that is preventing fakesigned apps from installing correctly.

Anyway, I guess my solution for using the old Ubuntu fonts on 23.04 will be… manually installing the 22.04 LTS debs for `fonts-ubuntu` and `fonts-ubuntu-console` and pinning them via `sudo apt-mark hold`.

(I should file a proper issue report about the subpixel issue though…)

To elaborate on the Ubuntu Mono changes — it seems that the new version of Ubuntu Mono is just… bigger. (And some of the font shapes seem to have changed too…?)

These two screenshots (22.10 left, 23.04 right) are using the exact same font settings — Ubuntu Mono @ 13pt.

[↑] Anyway, even /after/ fixing the subpixel antialiasing issue, there's still this really annoying and noticeable difference in the font rendering, where all the fonts just appear… thinner, or something.

The macOS 14 Sonoma colour scheme / default wallpaper is probably the first one that I actually actively hate looking at.

These colours just… do /not/ look good together to my eyes.

It actually reminds me of Splatoon 3's cursed colour scheme, which I also dislike.
The default light mode wallpaper for macOS 14 Sonoma. 2023: Sony unveils "Project Q" for the PS5, which effectively seems to function like a Sony-designed DRC.
