Also going to be a test - as easy a test as can be, because it's not just free, but saves money at the expense of a minor inconvenience - of how serious the "Resistance" actually is at its putative mission.

Resisting MAGA fascism with all the legal avenues at our disposal is a moral imperative.

Most corporations have no inherent ideology. They will go wherever the winds blow by default, be it performative Woke in the 2010s, or submitting to MAGA Gleichschaltung today.

Terminally dysfunctional state that was bailed out by Iranian militias, Hezbollah, and Russian air power eight years ago. Now Hezbollah was wrecked by Israel, and Russia has all its attention occupied by Ukraine.

The HTS success is surprising, but not that surprising in context.

Why was the HTS surprise assault on a city of 2 million people - that's well more than 10% of Syria's population - not noticed?

Well, it seems it kind of was. Perhaps two months ago. Relaying it up the "power vertical" that's unaccountable and doesn't care is another matter.

In contrast, it was 19% in MENA as a whole (obviously a pretty corrupt region).

And it seems to have become worse after the civil war began (2018 report).

And obviously neither Russia nor Iran probably had a salubrious influence...
