In this paragraph, a person has intersex status if the person has physical, chromosomal, hormonal or genetic features that are - (a) neither wholly male or female; (b) a combination of male or female; or (c) neither male nor female.

Did you know they have to tune pipe organs? This is the one in King’s Lynn Minster being tuned. There are little metal sleeves on the pipes that can be adjusted to change the pitch.

Since Watson is in the news for dying, it’s appropriate to have seen this in the Whipple museum today. It’s the story of how Franklin’s name was added to the plaque outside the Eagle pub.
Rosalind Franklin had a troubled relationship with Cambridge. A degree in natural sciences led to a PhD in physical chemistry (working in the buiding in which you now stand), but there was considerable friction with her alcoholic supervisor. Ronald Norris. A wartime directive from the British Coal Utilisation Research Association led her to leave Cambridge in 1942 to conduct war research in London. By the early 1950s, Franklin was a pioneering X-ray crystallographer, applying this new technique to study the structure of complex molecules including DNA. Working with Maurice Wikins and others at King's Colege London, Frankin studied DNA's helical form, determining a number of its key parameters. When Watson and Crick began working on DNA's structure in Cambridge, much of this data was proviced to thom without Frankin's permistion. They subsequently used it in their own successful model-buiding efforts. + FraNKLin Rosalind Franklin and DNA On 9th October 2017, the Cambridge student newspaper Varsity broke the news of a local protest: "Graffitist adds Franklin's name to Crick and Watson plaque" No one knew who'd added this third name to the blue plaque on the wall of the Eagle pub, but their intention was immediately clear: to highlight the erasure of Rosalind Franklin's contributions to the 1953 discovery of the structure of DNA. This simple protest sparked a whirlwind of press coverage-ranging from praise to accusations of vandalism-and it permanently altered the way in which Franklin's career is now remembered in Cambridge. Whilst the pioneering work of James Watson and Francis Crick is rightly celebrated for unlocking "the secret of life", their use of Franklin's research data is now also a recognised part of the story of DNA.
