PS: I just now noticed after 17 years that the poster is actually a misquote -- it should say: "If you're going to make a mistake, make it LOUDLY" but Kasey made the mistake loudly, so I didn't even notice. 5/4

Years ago, a student on my Mock Trial team took the time to make me a poster. We framed it & it hung in my classroom until my daughter starting having problems with fear and anxiety and feeling too trepidatious to participate in things, so I gave it to her. It changed her life, too. Here it is. 4/4

We both got healthier so the relationship failed, but I kept the advice and I used it in the classroom. A lot. Being tentative cedes space to fear. Own yourself, including your mistakes. If you make them loudly, often people won't even know they're mistakes. 3/4

It became a thing for us: "If you're going to make a mistake, make it LOUDLY!" Whenever either of us were being tentative or socially neurotic. "LOUDLY!" Whenever either of us were scared to try someting: "LOUDLY!" And what happened is we both got better. It ended our relationship, actually. 2/4

Not me, man. I didn't say that. I was agreeing with you.

I think it's simply an artifact of rancid evangelicalism. As a matter of fact, I believe there was a significant rise in American Catholic observance in the years following Kennedy's presidency.

Also when considering the entire point to creating an American spelling was to differentiate us and separate us culturally and linguistically from the British, it's essentially a repatriation argument.
