The lesson learned was that to maintain power political elites must ensure at all costs that there cannot be spontaneous expression of outrage and solidarity.

Hence the widespread mass surveillance, militarization, and urban segregation by the likes of Andre Dickens, Karen Bass, and Muriel Bowser.
This is why the fight against Cop City in Atlanta and the subsequent fights against these facilities across the country have to loom large in any understanding of the current moment.

“This is the paradox of our brutal time against women: marching to guarantee the right to life. Walking to interrupt the normalization of femicide. We occupy the city to remind the obvious: it shouldn’t be necessary to ask not to die.” — Débora Diniz, Brazilian anthropologist
Brazilians take to the streets calling attention to a crisis of violence against women
In 2024, Brazil had 1,492 victims of femicide, the highest number registered since the femicide law came into effect. This represents four women killed every day for reasons linked to their gender.

Stunned by how dishonest senators like Senate President Karen Spilka and Senator Nick Collins are being about Mayor Michelle Wu's tax shift home rule petition.

It was filed in February. They ignored it. No right to complain that it's a brand new ask. #mapoli

Factcheck: True.

All three of Trump’s older children were born in the United States and under the 14th Amendment’s jus soli (birthright citizenship), anyone born on U.S. soil is a citizen regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

So… careful where you dare to tread.👇

This man died from being at the wrong place at the wrong time because of #IceLawlessness, cruelty & racism.

This is so very true for a lot of people—when you see an unhoused person with a dog or cat that is not a luxury but a necessity. Sometimes that animal is what they have for family, for love, for co-regulation.
The human–animal bond is not “just a pet thing.” It’s attachment, routine, co-regulation, and safety. For a lot of people, that animal is the reason they get out of bed. That’s not drama, that’s nervous system reality. #TruthBombTuesday

Incredible poem! Just so gorgeous and cathartic. Reposting it to save it here where I can revisit it.
The #Consolation of Dying

It is not a wish,
not a yearning for endings,
but a quiet recognition
that everything-every bruise of the day,
every unfinished sentence,
every grief that keeps pulling up a chair
will someday loosen its grip.

Awful: Trump just admitted in a new interview that he knows "very little" about the Honduran ex-president he pardoned. This guy trafficked a gazillion times more drugs into the US than anyone Trump has executed. Wrecks his case for the boat bombings.

This is just more criming. This is the part where Trump spreads 12 Billion he doesn’t have any right to outwards to his voters. In reality the tarriffs money a) doesn’t belong to Trump unilaterally and b) has the potential to be clawed back by lawsuits. Distributing it makes it our problem, not his.

How can anyone be so stupid to think that adding more tax to products, and at these high levels will help the economy, when people will not be able to afford anything. Plus we are just adding to the government fund, not an economy. So fucked up
