Hey, everyone. Let's share Rose's website as far and often as possible. Her name was scrubbed from NASA's website thanks to orders to erase women in STEM. Rose fought through poverty and homelessness, and every time I look at the moon, I think of her.

Nick Sirianni is 43 and just won a Super Bowl. Well, I am 47 and finished an entire package of strawberries before they went bad so really I think we are on the same level.

This is not a U.S. Marshal, Federal Protective Service, or any other federal law enforcement officer. This is a private security guard from Triple Canopy. He has no authority to block members of Congress who have oversight of the EPA from entering the building.
We were just denied entrance into the EPA after asking to meet with a DOGE representative. More to come.

As a staunch opponent of political violence, I greatly prefer when national leaders respond to it by condemning violence and expressing concern for victims (image 1) rather than encouraging violence and laughing at victims (image 2).

Solidarity with my union today. Covering the Oscar nominations is one of my favorite work days of the year, but after what I’ve witnessed from Condé Nast management over the past two months, I am more than ready to withhold that labor

The Onion would like to congratulate its owner, G/O Media, for standing firm in its return-to-office mandate, as we can think of nowhere more conducive to best-in-class thought leadership than a fluorescent-lit room populated with the abandoned desks of terminated colleagues.

One of the two favorites to be Trump’s AG has promised a three week “reign of terror” (his term) in which he’d imprison journalists, prosecutors and others who have criticized Trump. The other is Stephen Miller.

www.axios.com/2023/12/07/t...
Exclusive: Trump's loyalty-first Cabinet could include Stephen Miller, J.D Vance and Steve Bannon
Trump would turn to loyalists who share his zeal to punish critics, purge non-believers, and take controversial legal and military action.

Since here come the waves of "Texans got what they voted for," I implore you smug motherfuckers to note that Paxton's *own party* tried to boot him from office months ago, voter disenfranchisement + gerrymandering are rife here, and moreover NOT ALL OF US CAN AFFORD TO ABANDON OUR JOBS AND FAMILIES

Cosigned from Ohio.
what's great is this supportive and helpful advice from the blue state crowd who so care deeply about the health and wellbeing of Texans that "all" they can do is write snarky, smug shit on the internet while our state denies us life-saving abortions

Grappling with Reconstruction and Jim Crow should really immunize people against all the “glorious tradition as the oldest consolidated democracy” nonsense, and against all “It can’t happen here” talk: It literally happened here before, in reaction to the first attempt at biracial democracy.
it is unfortunate that americans learn about jim crow as the product of prejudice and not as a nearly 75-year-long reversal of democratic fortune in which a very large number of americans lived under violent authoritarian rule
for all of the pessimism about the present many americans basically believe that we exist outside of contingent history and that nothing could possibly get worse than the present. but, uh, that’s not the case.

“If you’re angry about THIS, but not about THAT—“

Bro I’m gonna have to stop you there, I am angry about so many things all of the time, I have never in my life been angry about just one thing at a time, my capacity for “things to be angry about” is as wide and as deep as the sea

At some point, I will recognize that the sinking feeling I get when I have not done a simple but necessary task that will take me 10 minutes can be easily alleviated by doing the simple task that will take me 10 minutes.

That point is not, apparently, today.

The DEA looking at a spike of ADHD meds being prescribed and deciding that, instead of a pandemic response revealing executive dysfunction issues to people whose routines had hidden it well enough until then, it meant there was A Problem With Drugs is a pretty compelling partial explanation.
