I hope that with my PhD, I can contribute to the growing literature around social determinants and suicide prevention and ultimately produce evidence-based recommendations for policy and research.

Suicide prevention research has largely focused on how we tackle these individual risks, though recently, greater attention has been given to social determinants.

What this means is that I'll be focusing on the broader social, political, economic and environmental factors as well as how they interact with individual risks.
