Don’t feel bad--most of us were thinking the same back then. Pizzagate might’ve been the inflection point when ‘Every Accusation is a Confession’ became a go-to line for MAGA conspiracies… and look where we are now.

Sold out? Really? What exactly did you expect Democrats to get, and how?
They made it clear it's the GOP is raising ACA costs--80% of enrollees are in red states too. They exposed Republicans’ willingness to starve the poor.
Trump was pressuring GOP senators--how long do you think they’d have held?

Ah, and now the Comet Ping Pong Pizza prophecy fulfilled at last...

Yeah, wild idea--end a fake crisis before Trump can use it to blow up Senate rules and give himself unchecked power. Real “dumb,” huh.

Your article 2 days ago??? Yeah, let Trump kill the filibuster so he can pass Project 2025 and purge the civil service. Real galaxy-brain pro-democracy move there.🤦‍♂️
Democrats Should Have Let Republicans Kill the Filibuster
Instead of caving on the shutdown, Democrats should have waited for the GOP to cave on Trump’s demand to scotch this antidemocratic tactic.

Some Republicans like Thune have always opposed killing the filibuster. What Trump needed was a crisis big enough to make them ditch it. If he’d gotten 50 votes for that, he could’ve passed most of what he wants with a bare majority.
November 13, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Some of us knew this all along. No one has shown a single path where Democrats could’ve gotten anything out of Republicans from the shutdown. It was a zero-sum game from the start. The real embarrassment is that mainstream media didn’t cover this.

I'm very disappointed in that.
Trump was pushing hard to get GOP votes to end the filibuster. 8 Dems & shutdown ends, ACA subsidies are still unresolved, and the GOP will own it if they expire. Keeping the filibuster keeps a key check intact. Without it, Trump would be so enabled to force through tariffs, Project 2025, and more.

I said this... some agreed, some bashed me over it .
A lot of Dems missed this: Trump wanted the shutdown to drag so GOP would kill the filibuster. ACA was the bait. He expected Dems to hold out, get blamed, and push Repugs to say "enough". Dems ending it early blocked his real goal -- scraping the filibuster and ramming through Project 2025.

If Trump actually pardoned Ghislaine Maxwell, the first flight out better be one-way. Once she’s pardoned, she can’t take the Fifth -- and Congress would have a lot of questions.

You wanna tell me with a straight face that Republicans would never cave to Trump?

November 12, 2025 at 7:49 PM
What's nonsense is believing that Trump doesn't often get 'his' republicans to tow the line when he pressures them.

We've all seen it. I'm not about to be careless and believe that republicans will do the right thing and stand up against Trump.

Even when it's in their best interest.
November 12, 2025 at 3:38 PM
Emily, your points were very valid. Thune said he was against it on ABC. Other Republicans were hesitant, and others receptive to a rule change. But we know GOP senators tend to tow the line when push comes to shove with Trump, and the longer it dragged the more likely they’d cave.
Cupcakes in oven.
