Americanised crap - we desperately need to identify more as a European nation and very much less with America.

The hysteria is almost funny.

Millions will be better off. A very small percentage of people will pay noticeably more - but not a lot more.

I seem to remember him saying very similar things about his intention to invade Ukraine.

They do permit a probationary period.

The critical difference is that across the EEA, a failure to follow process or provide reasonable explanation for termination is within the court’s jurisdiction from day one.

Right now, it’s from two years in the UK, proposed to be from six months.

Why is it that all of the EEA is able to ensure employee protections from day one?

That’s 30 countries that seem to have mastered the challenge without impacting economic growth or causing a legislative earthquake.

Italy’s probation isn’t a “free dismissal” period. Under Art. 2096, termination must relate to assessing suitability and can’t be arbitrary or discriminatory. Italian courts regularly overturn probationary dismissals without a legitimate job-related basis.

Not the same as the UK at all.
