Read this on my flight home last night. An incredible page-turner but also filled with love and family connection. I highly recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a good read!

Two belongings from the HBC collection are part of the beautiful Nuxalk exhibition at MOA, and I was honoured to attend an incredible day of celebration for the opening. I love this part of my job.
An exhibit case featuring Helen Housty’s belongings. Helen high-ranking Heiltsuk woman who married Nuxalk man Sam Schooner. A woven hat with painted form line artwork sits atop a mount that is nearly invisible, making the hat appear to be floating in the case. Next to it is a carved talking stick. Inside MOAs great hall, surrounded by incredible carved totem poles, a large group of people have gathered to listen to Clyde Tallio, co-curator of the new exhibition.

Got things all set up for the Collections for Community access event on Sunday. I’m very excited to spend time with the birch bark bitings using this lovely light table. Registration is full, but we’ll offer another session again in the future!
Six beautiful birch bark bitings are laid out on a bright white light table to bring out the designs. The birchbark squares look orange and have intricate floral designs, all made by the artists teeth, that appear as brighter yellow when the light shines behind them.

Today’s run was a chilly one, with a windchill that makes it feel like -30, but invigorating! Stay warm fellow Winnipeggers!

The Bead-a-thon at Manitoba Museum is incredible. So many people, so many beads, all good vibes! There’s still time to check it out, on until 3pm!

My colleagues are organizing a super-fun fundraising event at the Manitoba Museum, a bead-a-thon! All skill levels welcome and a lot of amazing artists, including the incredible Jennine Krauchi, will be there to share their knowledge!

Find yourself a group of facility engineers who work hard to meet your climate-controlled storage standards! I’m pretty lucky with the crew at MB Centennial Centre, constantly tinkering to keep my cold storage cold & responding to adjustment requests by Senior Conservator and I!

Last week was busy, two work-related nights out for this gal! One was a lovely stewardship event so here’s a cool pic I snapped of my colleagues showing off recently collected fossils & lichens from Churchill.

Hello! I’m still figuring this place out, trying to find my various communities from the bad place, but I see that obligatory pet photos are due for your first post! So here are my three dudes (yes, one appears twice but don’t tell the other two!).
