LOVE IN A F*CKED UP WORLD by @deanspade.bsky.social is a book I’ve been itching for.

I’ve long felt lost about how to practice politics interpersonally after being burned from a former organization.

What I love most: it reads more like a love letter rather than a self-help book.

It’s a very long distance when you’re in the middle and when you need to cross and you need to get to either Frost or Allegheny. It encourages jaywalked and jaywalking is an expensive ticket.” The much needed crosswalk on Trent Avenue between Frost and Allegheny refers to the very real intersection of Cornelia and Main Streets in Boonton, which is a rather dangerous spot despite there already being a crosswalk. There’s a lot of foot traffic on downtown Main Street especially to cross the road to Boonton Coffee Company, the most popular place on the strip (aside from the post office). I have aggressively shouted at cars who refuse to stop for pedestrians TO and FROM therapy appointments! -.5 star for this being canonically set in Pennsylvania. STOLEN VALOR! -former Boonton, NJ resident “I think we ought to change our town motto. ‘A Place to Call Home’ is confusing because when somebody hears it, it can mean it’s a great place to call your home on the telephone.””

I watched Past Lives (2023)

I told a friend that it felt like he and I “loved each other many times before,” so this film was rather gut-punching for me despite the slow build. “It sounds like [he] figured it out this time,” my friend told me. “I think the next life will be glorious.” Since I’ve happily been in a relationship for five years, it was initially confusing to grieve an estranged ex. I think if I were monogamous I would’ve felt guilt or shame. (I posted about my ex on Reddit, and someone commented—also grieving an estranged ex—that they kept their grief a secret from their husband; that absolutely crushed me.) Monogamy often asks us to suppress grief towards what could have been in the name of what is in the present, despite how strongly the past informs present relationships. Although this film is told through a monogamist lens, it still portrayed loved as expansive. It was heartwarming to see that despite Arthur’s insecurity at first, he embraced Nora as she sobbed after Hae Sung got into an Uber.”

How he was found: The suspect was “sitting there eating” at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, when an employee of the restaurant recognized him and called police, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. He credited the tip to the wide circulation of a photo the NYPD released last week of the person without a mask on.
