It keeps changing but currently looking good for the eclipse next week

I need to get astronomy back into my life. I miss the hell out of it. This is why, even during years of not being active in it, I refused to sell my gear.

Happy #PortfolioDay!

I'm Marwella, I love space and an amateur space artist.

I think it might be time to make this my main social media account. Done with the other platform, and facebook is only there for messenger at this point.

I have been so out of the loop the last few years I had no idea Europa Clipper was launching today. Obviously missed the launch.

Between IBS and insomnia I really really really need a WFH job that I can do on my own schedule. Or, ya know, we could just classify one or both of these issues as a disability because I'm feeling pretty fucking disabled, and work doesn't appreciate it.

Wow, I didn't realize I was that poor and in that much debt. I currently make the most I've ever made (which to be honest really isn't that much) and I can't afford to buy a $100,000 house with monthly payments of $700, but it's okay to spend $1000+ a month for a small ass rental.

Trying to find a rental property outside of the city and allows dogs that isn't over $1200 a month is nearly impossible. I wish I could just afford to buy a damn house 😡

I could've swore that I signed up for the SAVE plan for my student loans last year but apparently I didn't. I really wish I never did the college thing all it did was put me in debt and the degree has done absolutely nothing for me.

I've been doing fruit smoothies the past week as I've been trying to eat healthier & fruit is better than all the Oreos I'd eat per day. Decided to try this recipe laurenrenlund.com/low-fodmap-o... for a cookie flavored smoothie which might be better if I used cinnamon instead of pumpkin pie spices
Low FODMAP Oatmeal Cookie Breakfast Smoothie
This creamy low FODMAP smoothie is a healthy option while having a flavour that's reminiscent of a fresh batch of oatmeal cookies!

The Internet hasn't felt the same since the collapse of the bird app. I'm now hopping between here and Facebook but none of it feels as connected as it felt over there. Maybe I need to find more of the people I used to follow to make this feel like a proper replacement.

I know that it is always a better idea to have your taxes setup so you get little to nothing back, or pay in a small amount meaning you got more money in your paycheck but I typically need that refund money this time of year, and paying more to file than what I received hurts pretty badly.

I must be Gen Z because I don't want to work anymore.

I never used to get rude comments on my sketches or anything like that on Twitter, but the hate is filling that platform. Maybe a small child could sketch it, but that's not the point of sketching it or saying I might attempt it. People like that are part of the reason I don't share much anymore.

Cellphone through the eyepiece of my telescope. Absolutely mind blowing experience. I might do a sketch of one of my pics later. Quickly got these then just enjoyed the view.

Plattsburgh is busy! The city beach is packed for the eclipse
April 8, 2024 at 5:05 PM
Aside from the eclipse I'm contemplating using a telescope to see Mercury for my first time, and maybe try to get a glance of the comet. Plus possible views of Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Mars, Neptune and Uranus

Contemplating doing a sketch of totality since that will force me to observe during the whole thing, and I won't be fiddling with cameras if I do. Not entirely sure I'll want to spend the whole 3 minutes and 34 seconds doing anything other than just being awe struck by the eclipse.

I don't know how it'll turn out and I don't plan on doing much, if any, images for the total eclipse tomorrow, but I'm considering sending my drone up during totality to get some panaramas of it over Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. Don't want to spend too much time playing with images though.

⚠️ Smartphone rant ⚠️
At the current price of smartphones I feel Samsung wanting to charge more for their AI features after a couple years is ridiculous. I've used Samsung since the SIII but don't see myself sticking with them if that's the case. Yay, more added fees!

I haven't cut my hair since the last time I used my telescope/made an astronomy video.

I haven't updated my Facebook page for astronomy in almost a year and suddenly I've gotten 50 new subscribers this week. Weird how when I was pushing people to subscribe I couldn't get anyone to join, but after giving up I've gained 300 in that year.

Coworker sent me a message today because he saw this in our local Sam's Club. I don't have a membership there so I'd never see it, but it's cool to see something like this available locally

Speaking of eclipses, I have no plans to travel in April because the path of totality is right over Plattsburgh, but it's going to be a coin flip on whether it'll be cloudy or not. Not much of a gambler, but I suppose I'll bet this time.

Only attempt I made at seeing the 20% eclipse here was going outside with a colander to see if I could see any signs of the eclipse. Unfortunately I didn't see much of anything with this method. Maybe a slight chunk of the sun missing.
