Had a spare few hours today so headed to a very chilly SWT Lackford Lakes to see the drake Green-winged Teal that has been on the Slough for a few days, there were also a pair of Goldeneye on the Sailing Lake & at least 4 Crossbills beside Plover Lake plus lots of Siskin and Redwing #Suffolkbirding

Enjoyed a very pleasant @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social boat trip on the River Ore and Butley River on Sunday, was interesting to observe a good number of waders from the boat. Also before the trip I managed to see the North Warren shrike which was showing very well #Suffolkbirding

Nice walk around the village this morning with 42 species recorded on my birdtrack.bsky.social list. Seems to have been an increase in Blackbirds and Wood Pigeons over the last couple of days and a few Swallows went over heading south #suffolkbirding

Brilliant day at @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social Lackford Lakes for the last day of the school summer holidays. The highlight was definitely the 12 Crossbill that showed well enough for a few phone scoped pictures #suffolkbirding

A different walk today heading north of the village but still in the parish was very interesting. With a calling Spotted Flycatcher, a purring Turtle Dove and a very brief view of a warbler disappearing into a patch of brambles never to be seen again
that looked a lot like a Gropper #suffolkbirding

First walk around the village for a couple of weeks, and the/a Little Owl was back for the first time since November and an area of scrub was full of birds including Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Linnet all seen collecting food #suffolkbirding

Nice patch walk around the village this morning, first Garden Warbler for a couple of years, Swallows, Swifts and House Martins are now all back and a family of Long-tailed Tits were the first fledged youngsters I have seen this year #suffolkbirding

Another good patch walk this morning with 52 species making it onto my @birdtrack.bsky.social list, including the Ring Ouzel for its third day, courting Nuthatch, singing Willow Warbler and my first Whitethroat of spring #suffolkbirding

Today's second visit to my BTO Heathland Birds survey square was another expected blank for Woodlark but on my walk there found a Ring Ouzel which was a village/patch tick #suffolkbirding

First time visiting Hagg Lane and Slaynes Lane today was very enjoyable with 21 Ruff, a Spot Red, 6 GW Egret, Yellow Wag, singing Sedge Warblers and drake Garganey seen plus lots of Sand Martin and a few Swallows moving through #Nottsbirding

As expected, my local square for the BTO Heathland Birds survey had no Woodlark this morning, but on my walk to the square, this pair of Gadwall was a patch tick on one of the few village ponds #suffolkbirding

This mornings walk around the village felt very spring like in the sunshine, recorded 40 species on birdtrack.bsky.social the highlight was this drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker #suffolkbirding

Good couple of hours around the village this morning with 48 species recorded on birdtrack.bsky.social with plenty of birds in song, a drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker and over 160 Yellowhammer, c60 Linnet and a few Chaffinch in one flock feeding in a stubble field #suffolkbirding

Spent the afternoon at Boyton and Hollesley Marshes, there were 280+ White-fronted Geese at Boyton, but the 6 at Hollesley were much closer, also Cattle Egret, Barn Owl and a couple of Caspian Gull there #suffolkbirding

Some time at All Saints Church, Holbrook, this morning resulted in two good views of some of the Hawfinch that have been visiting there for a while now. Then, on to Stoke Sailing Club to have a look on the Orwell, finding two Great Northern Diver & good numbers of waders & wildfowl #suffolkbirding
