it's worth mentioning that, at least as far as I remember, the original DVD release for Tokyo Godfathers had subtitles that used more unkind terminology for Hana that apparently wasn't even in the JP dialogue. thankfully, GKIDS' newer release and dub corrected this

I think more things and concepts from IRL can exist in the context of Star Wars than people think. just really depends on if the storyteller wants it as an analog or not. like when Timothy Zahn wrote about Lando giving Luke hot chocolate in Heir to the Empire

there's generic animal labels that can still be applied to alien fauna, which I imagine helps. I think you can see IRL water fowl in Naboo lakes in AotC though, so maybe it's a non-issue
