I think it means something that his work / life still sparks conversation in the CI world and intelligence in general. An incredibly interesting man.

He lived and died on a world of grey. To wake up every day at odds with arguably the most successful foreign intelligence / secret police organ in human history. He’ll never be completely rehabilitated and I don’t think he should. But he certainly saved a lot of American lives.

Certainly a flawed man and a victim of the “Wilderness of Mirrors”. He knew the titanic struggle he faced as the guardian of our secrets. That weight consumed him I’m sure.
