However, we didn't win everything we wanted. We fought for capping the rent at 3%, but some on the Council stood against this stronger plan that tenants really needed when it mattered. While what we ended up with isn't enough, it is a huge step.

Right now, working families are one rent hike away from being homeless. A recent study found a $100 increase in median rent = a 9% rise in homelessness. #AB1157, the Affordable Rent Act, would cap rent hikes at 5% and keep millions like Evelin, her family and neighbors, housed.
