The pic shared by Victoria Police is revealing. Amongst a fair number of actual weapons, some of the "weapons" seized in the 3-day CBD operation were:
* box cutters
* kitchen knives
* a Swiss Army knife.

While these measures were *triggered* by the Washington shooting, the shooting was not the cause. Trump was planning this all along, probably as a program to be introduced gradually. The shooting just made him decide "Stuff it, I can't wait any more." #Antifa

I keep saying, Google intentionally making its search worse is a world-historical fumble, and it's a huge opportunity for so many others across the internet, if they'll just seize it..
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The more I think about this, the more it really, really, REALLY bothers me

We've reached a point where a text-based reference fabrication engine - comfortably the most effective machine liar we've ever invented - is being pushed by an ultra-polluting tech company and accepted by climate scientists
Deeply absurd. This Google PDF published on a blog (arxiv, not peer reviewed) claims an LLM is "PhD level" but in most cases the MAJORITY of reference URLs were invalid or inaccessible.

"Make [somewhere] [something good] Again" is the telltale slogan of reactionaries who want to drag society back to an imagined golden age, usually two generations ago.

In this case, the reactionaries are rejecting two generations &, in the case of vaccines, two centuries (!) of medical progress.

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

I don’t think I was the only one who said it but, I said eventually the soldiers who committed these acts will eventually pay the price, mentally. And it won’t be just PTSD or missing limbs but extremely violent human beings.
