Leading a gender-inclusive Latin dance workshop at the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. Sharing my culture, values, and dance in a welcoming space reminded me that joy, dance, and inclusion are critical, especially when many feel they don’t belong. Feeling so grateful for this!
I’m still reflecting on how special it was to lead a gender inclusive Latin dance workshop during the recent Alumni Reunion at my school. As a Mexican national and immigrant in Vermont, being invited to share something as personal as my culture, values, and dance movements in a welcoming space means a great deal to me. In times like these, when many of us are made to feel like we don’t belong, this experience served as a quiet yet powerful reminder that joy, dance, and inclusion truly have a place. It's significant when we create that space ourselves whenever we can. One of the things I value the most of PBL and Progressive Education is that no matter how shitty things are out there right now, but to see these final reflections in my student’s final portfolio give me a lot of much needed hope. #LangChat

I was interviewed and featured alongside a student in a project-based learning (PBL) initiative. I shared my experiences as a cishet man, my perspectives on maleness and masculinity, and my positionality. I also discussed how these continue to influence my behaviors.
