Author. Likes books, words, space, history, computer games, Transformers, some philosophy, mountains, and the beach.
It's less fun than a poll, but you get a pretty concise answer from the dictionary.

With a second entry, Quirkz Handbooks are now officially a series. Look out, Complete Idiot's Guides for Dummies, there's a new player in town.

Very weird timeline conjunction:

day

If I use night mode, after about 30 seconds it starts to look like this:

Spotted at Powell's last weekend - pick of the month! I also picked up a copy there.

You know what? I even still have that box. A little bit of Pop Tart history there. Remember Heresy, too? I think we bought that more because the art was cool than to play.

Might have found the perfect author photo for my book about beer and video games. Here I am pictured with what I call my gateway drug, Honey Brown beer, and lots of Magic: The Gathering cards (as a precursor to Hearthstone).

My next book! The Quirkz Handbook of Drinking Beer and Playing Video Games. It is exactly what it sounds like: lightly humorous personal essays about a lifetime of beer and video games and the things that come with them. ~140 pages. Beta readers wanted. Any interest in giving it a read? Let me know!

Funny and true. (Well, currently on the second draft, but I'll get to 4.)

I got distracted by lunch and missed it by three million. I'm sure that's a lot closer of a miss than it sounds.
May 8, 2025 at 7:15 PM
Heh. There's even photographic evidence out there of it happening.

I've seen that stuff, too! They're really cool. Sometimes look like trees.

Still pretty rare for me to hit Legend in Hearthstone. This is my first time in Wild format. Also, last time I did it I was over rank 11,000. This feels like a big step up.

I lost one? Ugh. This deck is dead to me.
#hearthstone

44-0 is not something I am ever going to see again. Wild wisp mage is kind of broken.

Look, if this doesn't stop it's going to become the Gulf of a Thousand Names.

But wait! I think I've got a name we can all agree on.

To give a smidgen of credit: it is still large, and mostly unused. But on the flip side, most of it looks like this. This is from the far south, in June.

Dessert Disasters 10: Cough-ee Cake

The computer refuses to show coughing. I got the weirdest not-coughing things ever. The first try didn't even include cake. In fact, I don't have any idea what it thinks is going on there.

Dessert Disasters 9: Tears'o'misu

Your dessert is flying away? Cry me a river.

Note 1: I could not get any actual tears out of the computer.

Note 2: Go look up videos of raccoons trying to wash cotton candy, for a truly funny-sad clip.

And here's a truly horrifying out-take from an early attempt.

Dessert Disasters 6: Blubberlicious Gum
When you want to chew the fat and have fresh breath. I tried to get the gum to be whale shaped, but it wasn't working.

Dessert Disasters 6: Lenin Bars

It's not difficult to imagine some creative interpretation here, like a little figure with a lemon bar head, or a lemon bar with Lenin's face on it, but sometimes, despite all prompting, the computer says "no, these two things cannot be combined".

Once again wishing one and all a VERV MERRY holiday season!

Dessert Disasters 5: Cottonmouth Candy

The computer nailed this in one try. Possibly my favorite interpretation yet. That's good, because I have no other jokey tagline, just let the picture speak for itself.

Dessert Disasters 4: Deep State Fried Twinkies

Two-fer today. Available only at your local county fair, and in the secret sublevel 5 of an unlabeled building in Washington D.C.

I'm not sure AI knows what a Twinkie looks like.
