Self-promotion has never been my strong suit but I wanted to share another mention that I've been writing again. Quite a lot more than I expected so far. Oh and the newsletter is free.

Mo'ne Davis spent years telling people that she was done playing baseball. She did not want to be forever defined by what she did as a 13-year-old in Little League, a decade ago, and she did not feel like there was space for her to do much else. And then she felt differently. On Davis and the WPBL:
Mo’ne Davis Is Finally Ready to Play Baseball Again
More than a decade after becoming a Little League sensation at age 13, Mo’ne Davis is set to make more history as the face of the Women’s Pro Baseball League.

🤣🤣🤷

Started a fresh OOTP game. Pitched a no-hitter on Opening Day. Then lost a second no-hitter with two outs in the ninth in Game 2. Unreal.

Companies should be banned from including a doorbell noise in commercials. The dogs fall for it every time.

Clayton Kershaw finished his career with back-to-back World Series championships. He only pitched to one batter between the two series.

Is it too late to save (future Angels manager, probably, if Moreno is still around) Mike Trout from Angels purgatory?

Once upon a time, both @cyrthogg.bsky.social and @keeganmatheson.bsky.social were ICs writing MLB content at a network I helped manage. Both were too ambitious to learn much from me.

Now, the teams they cover full-time might meet in the World Series -- a fact only fun for me and like three others.

Random Thursday thought, but has any fictional TV/film character died and come back to life as many times as Kenny McCormick?

Celebrities, former players, and pro athletes are often seen in the stands at MLB games, but I wonder if any have ever been caught on camera catching a home run or foul ball?

@adarowski.bsky.social You have/had a list somewhere of all the guys with 4K hits, yes?

CC Sabathia absolutely crushed that speech. Well done, sir.

Yardbarker. And I'm looking to add even more writers to our team!
Please QT this with a sports outlet/blog/podcast/whatever that platforms women.

That way, we can all go support those places.

All respect intended for Hoynes and Miller here, but how does this NOT go to Verducci?
Congratulations to the 3 nominees for the BBWAA Career Excellence Award:

Tom Verducci
Paul Hoynes
And the late, great Scott Miller

All so deserving of being honored in the writers' wing of the Hall of Fame

Poor Jazz. Everyone else hits 15+ and he only gets 3.

Is that Ryan Howard doing interviews after these guys hit? He looks like he's in better shape than during his playing days. Must be all that Subway.

At least you weren't shut out, Jazz.

Uhh, @mlb.com, who thought a racist bonehead and his unknown sidekick was a good idea to host the HRD???

The third game of Manny Ramirez's career.
"3B Jim Thome" is always a hoot to think about in retrospect (but this lineup that Abbott no-hit in '93 was *loaded*)

Saw the @thesavbananas.bsky.social today at Fenway. And some fun guests:

Doug Flutie threw out the first (three) pitch(es).
Bill “Spaceman” Lee struck out a batter. 👀!!!
Johnny Damon lined out.
Jackie Bradley Jr. was hit by a pitch and lined out.
