Lawrence on how to live your best life: ❝ I was using the lyrics to paint a picture of an imaginary world. That we could live in, instead of the real world. I never read a newspaper. Never watched the TV news. I was completely enclosed in this world. →
An Interview with Lawrence, Icon of the Pop Underground
Across several terrific bands—Felt, Denim, Go-Kart Mozart, Mozart Estate—the mononymous British singer-songwriter built an oeuvre of jangle-pop gems that flew unknown the radar. After a documentary and a biography took him from some renown to simply renowned, the 64-year-old artist reflects on a life of not-quite fame, writing big hits that never were.

remember in Fishing With John when John Lurie and Willem Dafoe froze to death in Maine and then the next episode begins with Lurie waiting for Dennis Hopper at the Phuket Int'l Airport and the voice-over says, "John Lurie, miraculously back from the dead!"

Makaya McCraven in the Present Tense | The Tonearm
With 'Off the Record', McCraven transforms fully improvised concerts from underground Chicago venues and New York jazz clubs into a four-EP meditation on what it means to share space, take risks, and participate in the unrepeatable.

I dreamed I was dressed in Man Machine attire and just happened to run into a Kraftwerk member (Florian?) on the street … I offered to give him a ride in my tiny car … once on our way I suddenly thought it would be hilarious to drive into a swimming pool, which understandably made him very angry

I like how the producers of Wong Kar-wai's Blossoms Shanghai thought no one outside of China is ever gonna see this so we might as well completely rip off the Succession song for our opening theme

I have a few curious 'did I dream that?' stories about the times I've stayed at The Phoenix, but the funniest is probably when there was a knock at my room's door, and here were two girls trying to find which room Keanu Reeves was supposedly staying in … they were knocking on every door in the hotel
