Corn was first domesticated 10,000–12,000 years ago from wild grasses in present-day Mexico. The Indigenous peoples of the Colorado Plateau began cultivating corn about 4,500 years ago. Pictured are corn specimens from the Museum of Northern Arizona collection.

What's stunning is that for the amount of money raised, a significant portion of people could be housed, fed, and given care, but instead another Golden Calf is gilded with another layer of religious hypocrisy.

If you live in North America and you are not an Indigenous tribal member, you are a settler. Period. You cannot separate yourself from being a colonizer or descendant of colonizers. If you benefit from living in North America (you do), it is at the expense of Indigenous lives. We are still here...
