This is very sad news. I think Tony’s appearance as Ensor in Blake’s 7 was the first time I became aware of him, and then a few years later he was really excellent as one of the main characters in the first series of Geoff McQueen’s Big Deal.

On tonight's episode of #CallMyBluff was apparently Victoria Coren-Mitchell's dad, Nick Drake's sister, Oona King's auntie, and the Wife of Bath's fifth husband. Despite it being Tuesday.

In other news, the more the Spectator hates/fears Zack Polanski, the more I like him. Keep going, 'lads'.

There is in fact ALWAYS a dull moment with these banalities.

I wonder if we're ever going to get away from the myth that far-right people and misogynists are inherently fascinating, because two articles being widely shared tonight seem to be under the impression that they are.

Yes, I was a bit ‘because I say so!’ there, wasn’t I. :)

whenisbirths.bsky.social
This passed me by completely, I think. How strange!

whenisbirths.bsky.social
Very much not. Eng Lang and Lit were compulsory at O level when I did them (which was the precursor to GCSE)

In fact, don’t even look at it, just import it and give it a whirl. #IntoTheGroove

You can play this 80s playlist I made for my book #IntoTheGroove not only in chronological order but alternatively in shuffle mode, as I did today. Works very well! Most genres catered for!
whenisbirths.bsky.social
And here, also, for the first time, is an extended 300-track playlist running chronologically through the 1980s, from 1980 to 1989. This doesn't even cover half of what's in the book, but I think it's a really effective soundtrack. #IntoTheGroove www.tunemymusic.com/share/kQHEUO...

Dexys, on the next tour, should definitely put up a big picture of Eno when they play Geno.

Been offline today, log back on to hear about D’Angelo. What a terrible loss. Only three albums but what a perfect trio. RIP

Even if AI can do it well, which I am not convinced of, I don't believe this has more than novelty value. Every example people come up with is a mash-up of existing things. People will get bored of that, they'll want to watch something new that they can talk to their friends about.

Graeme’s imagination and talent is of the sort that AI will never even begin to threaten.

Yesterday my etsy shop had preciously one view. (And i think that was probably me) If you like my stuff please repost. An eccentric millionaire with lots of empty wall space could be scrolling your timeline right now. marswasrubbish.etsy.com/listing/1579...
One of my prints “And now we’ll abseil down the other side” Shows a mountain that’s actually a monster with abseilers on top of it.

I’ve just read your bio, and what immediately came to mind was Gorseinon 893031.

Creatively, the prospect of AI taking over is an exhausting, boring slog.

Why not just go and watch Marilyn Monroe be brilliant in things that already exist, oh but that doesn’t involve you showing off, I understand now.

There may be those who think it demeaning for a grown man to spend the day building a cat playground. But they would be wrong.
