Young people’s political participation is frequently misrepresented by older powerholders. This GYPI shows that youth is often locked-out of democratic engagement but it does not have to be that way. I hope the index will be valuable around the world to young people, researchers and policy makers

Equality in representation is the key to a better democracy and a brighter today, and tomorrow. The GYPI is our way of contributing to the building of that future. We hope that young people, practitioners, and government officials will find it inspiring and useful to continue building a future that works for everyone, regardless of their age.
