Good job the sign was there otherwise I’d have just walked straight into this large van! Phew. Close call

Autumnal views through West Baldwin from one of our supporters’ commutes last week

Sure beats staring at car exhausts from inside a metal box….

My opinion on vehicle taxes. 🇮🇲
It should be a tripartite tax. By weight, size, and emissions.

Possibly even four: size should be split into two components for area and vertical bonnet height or some other proxy for how badly pedestrians get damaged if they’re hit.

We will know our governments are serious about tackling the climate crisis when it’s cheaper to take the train from northern UK to the south of France than it is to fly.

And not 2-3 times the price

Advice to Humanity: never buy a Sonos system.

Today i passed an older gent (60s?) who’d done a similar commute. We had a chat and his parting words were “e-bikes make it so easy - and it makes you feel so good!”
My commute to work (one route): 12 miles and 500m of climbing.

45mins and no sweat on an ebike

10 minutes longer than driving; 10 minutes quicker than the bus

Phasing out fossil fuels ‘doomed to fail’, says Tony Blair as he calls for rethink of net zero policy – UK politics live

Carbon Capture & Storage and nuclear power you say Tony?

Ok then some questions:

Same applies to the Isle of Man 🇮🇲
Apart from coarse fionnán grass, pretty much the only vegetation visible here is a few invasive rhodos.

This landscape could only be any more wrecked if it were regularly aerially sprayed with chemical biocide.

Yet we've been conditioned to think this is 'lovely' and 'wild'. #SheepShagged

I suppose looking on the bright side maybe then US and Russia being the same side now makes a nuclear war less likely?

Not just the obvious stuff, but why will any British citizen feel any responsibility to take personal action on climate change when Government’s message is Fly baby, Fly?

If anything encapsulates why humanity will never hit its climate targets, this is it:

It was my 2024 aim to get to work by bike (normal or “e”) 40% of the time.

Made it.

79 days at 28 miles round trip = 2,200 miles by bike (vs 111 days by car). It was mostly fun…

Just imagine what the Isle of Mancould do with an actual Active Travel program and some infrastructure….

I have a joke about fossil fuel but it’s really old.
I have a joke about carbon capture and sequestration, but it doesn't work.
