"'It’s killing the business,' the manager said. The manager noted that Home Depot is emphasizing “free delivery for contractors so they don’t have to risk themselves”—a sign of how the company has had to adjust."
SCOOP: Immigration Groups Weigh Boycott of Home Depot
As ICE raids target the home-improvement chain, what does the company owe its customers and the immigrants who do work for them?

DEI is more than the Republicans want you to believe.
DEI = isn’t abt immutable characteristics.

Also, white women have been the biggest winners when you look at Affirmative Action. They were the loophole 4 many white men. They fronted the businesses & initiatives. People avoided hiring racial minorities bcuz they could “comfortably” hire white women.
That’s where America’s past comes n2 play. Blame that on past generations of employers that locked out women & minorities to advantage whites, white men in particular.

Honestly speaking, how else was/could the gov’t—which sanctioned segregation in most if not all forms (slavery/Jim Crow) remedy it?
One of them just regurgitates what he’s heard. No original thoughts or ideas. However, he will work & do what he’s told. The other one. 🤦🏽‍♀️ You damn near have to draw pictures for him & then ask him to repeat it back to you to make sure he has it. I’m a former SpEd teacher, so I’m good working w/him.🤪
. . . be open to the fact that women & people w/in minority populations can be and are smarter than white men. I’m not saying that white men aren’t intelligent but they don’t hold the lock and key to intelligence. Many are dumb and dim as fuck and don’t have the relevant experience. I work w/2 now.
Explaining it away = lots to unpack there re: your disposition.

However, what you were told to do wasn’t done in a people first good intent way. It was done to avoid litigation. They didn’t want to be sued. So, they didn’t give a fuck. They wanted to meet the letter of the law. Also, you must be…
Now, think abt how they move thru the world, both at work and in their personal life—places and spaces where you aren’t there to help. The supports they get from others to maintain and be successful all depend on forms of DEI, big and small. Why? Bcuz they pivot from what people call “the norm”. ✌🏾
Last thing. Bringing it 2 the personal. Think of some1 u love or like—a family member, your child, wife/husband, sibling, etc., or a good friend. The catch is they’re a slow top, just slow as a MF, or they have some sort of disability. Think of all of the accommodations u make 2 include them = DEI.
Typing too fast: you may not see or define diversity in that way bcuz you may move in predominantly white spaces and that’s a norm for you.
. . . say that the white guy in my previous example has a disability (low vision) &
that hiring him was an example of equity and inclusion. Some would even say diversity. However, inclusion really just means respecting all abilities and people for who they are and not shunning or marginalizing them.
. . . therefore, it isn’t inequitable but equitable bcuz they have what they need and he has what he needs to be successful in his role which ultimately benefits his employer. I = Inclusion. The obvious example is to include someone who has a disability (visible or not visible). Some people would…
. . . but has low vision and heavily relies on text to speech. Equity says give him a larger monitor where he can use low vision software and outfit him with text to speech. It is not discriminatory toward the other employees to “accommodate” him if that way. They don’t need it for their jobs . . .
E = Equity = give people what they need to succeed. Everyone doesn’t need the same thing. I = Inclusion = creating spaces of belonging and respect for people even if differently abled or different from your norm. Equity = you’ve hired a patent attorney, white male, who is great at what he does . . .
. . . That same team might be monolingual but it’s expanded its business into Canada or Mexico, our closest trading partners. Therefore, it needs French speakers for its Montreal customer base and Spanish speakers for its Spanish speaking customer base. That’s an example of linguistic diversity.
. . .background knowledge. The time could be all white, which is often the case; however, it hires another white person who has that skill. It’s diversifying its team based on skill and ability. You don’t see diversity bcuz you are probably used to moving in normalized & predominantly white spaces.
Yes, you are. D = diversity. You have reduced diversity to race. Nursing is female dominated. However, if a male nurse comes along, he would diversify the crew. Teams can get stuck in group think. They need a certain skillset the current crew doesn’t possess, so they hire 4 a particular skill or…

Modern day Republicans are bigots and bullies.
I’m glad he’s saying something but the timeliness for those particular comments were abt a year or two ago.

Corporations have turned its back on those initiatives and people have been fired or let go. All people needed to see how they benefit from DEI from small things like curb cuts for 👨‍🦽‍➡️+ more.
