My uncle is aghast that in his country, refugees who travel across the English Channel are “put up in hotels”. I’ve long since given up on his rants about the injustices of the immigration system. The reality of finding a place of refuge for millions throughout the world is a reminder of global inequity. Privileged folks, like my relative in the UK, just don’t see past their own need to protect their borders with walls or fences.

There is something for everyone in a grand editorial cartoon. Is it just me, or does the 'flame' look a lot like a roasted turkey. Come to think of it, that's my wish for tradition obsessed amurcans: A remodel of Lady Liberty to Lady Leftover.

"Mamdani’s campaign showed that civic participation doesn’t only happen in speeches or debates; it also happens in shared meals, songs and celebrations that remind people they belong to the same city." Agreed

Best wishes Ms.McP. –– Timing is everything. I believe we need a Government House that shows greater support for the people. NDP has a strong history for advocating for working folks, and marginalized groups. Together in diversity we are a better country.
We’re just a few hours away from the first debate of the leadership race!

Now’s a great time to get involved and support our campaign.

Britain’s political elites are focusing the public’s attention on migration in ways that are not always accurate, especially when describing the scale of the flow of people into the country.

Time for some new ideas about OIL, not same old, same old.
#trumpism is holding us back, as advertised.
I've been thinking about hosting an idea party. What would yours look like?

"So far, there appears to be little appetite from industry for another oil pipeline battle."
What do we want? –– Pipelines!
When do we want them? –– Never!
😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
Canada just signed a deal with Alberta to build a bitumen pipeline through northern BC.

true that
1/ Mark Carney has betrayed all of us by making a pipeline pact with Danielle Smith. A real nation-building project would expand the renewable energy of the future while creating thousands of jobs - powerlines not pipelines.

I don't blame @mark-carney.bsky.social so much as #trumpism
We've fallen into an anti-immigration, anti-climate, short-sighted economic doofus era, brought to you by the guy who we thought was a smart policy wonk.

Social media gets dissed just like professional communicators used to disparage amateur radio operators (Hams). My dad's friend had a Ham Radio set-up, & he taught me the value of being able to reach out to people around the world: building friendships, building understanding, building unity.

I like Mr.P. & can't stand Mr.M., but my feelings to one side for a moment. Ms.G. has a strong point about media's impartiality, or lack thereof. My parents taught me to be discerning about any info that came my way. In the end it's up to us to decide what #truthmatters.
Two men who occupy prominent positions in Canada’s media landscape just travelled to Israel, where they received a briefing from the Israeli government.

Yeah. What are journalism ethics anyway?

Those men were TVO’s Steve Paikin and Global News’ Ben Mulroney:

In my childhood there used to be rhyming songs that girls skipped rope to, so I'm wondering if anyone is crafting one with all these self-serving politicians' names.
Sing it with me: 🎶Goodbye Ford, Putin, Trump, Poilievre, Smith, Netanyahu, Bolsonaro...🎶
It really has been interesting the last while to see Doug Ford's outbursts. The true Ford. From "get a job" to "audit orgs that might support left wing causes". The authoritarian belligerent bully that had no staff to muzzle him in City Hall days is still there. Does Ontario see? Do they care?
