I am a furloughed federal employee. We are behind on rent and tomorrow it's due again. We are working with agencies but they are stretched thin as you can imagine. If you can possibly help or share it would be appreciated.

I think, for me, the worst part of the shutdown and furlough is constantly being in survival mode. Scrabbling to feed my family ( hitting food banks) and figuring out ways to pay rent and utilities.

Just one thing after another and no time to relax or unwind bc if I do things fall apart.

So here we are - things are tough all over but particularly for me and my family right now. The shutdown after our homelessness has made it very difficult. We have availed ourselves of all requisite services and its still not enough.

Good question - unemployment will barely cover our weekly groceries - but more importantly it has to be paid back after the shutdown which would shorten my check.

So I honestly don't know what I'm going to do especially given my disability.

Today's the day I get worried. After today, assuming no resolution to the shutdown, my paycheck will be late. We do not have savings, for a variety of reasons but recently being homeless tops the list. We are, as the kids say, fucked.

But,you might say - what about unemployment?
