The phrase “if you cared, you would [remember, notice, be on time, listen, etc]” is so funny because I care so much it hurts but I just can’t change the behavior because that’s not how my brain works.

“I am nervous,” Neuvillette admits as he and Wriothesley approach the townhome.

“Don’t be,” Wriothesley says, squeezing their gloved hands together. “You’ve already met Navia, and you know Clorinde.”

Neuvillette presses his lips into a mulish line, clutching a giftbox in his free hand. “I know Navia and Clorinde both from court appearances. The one time we met outside of my work, I had a panic attack,” he says dryly.

“Yeah, well, I think you can be forgiven for that.” Wriothesley squeezes again. “Come on, sweetness, it’ll be okay. The girls will love you.”

“Your point of view is decidedly biased,” Neuvillette says.

Wriothesley gives him a look.
