#ハラビロトンボ のオス。　太い。　
はじめは黄色い #トンボ だけど性成熟すると体が黒くなって、さらにお腹が水色になっていく。　シオカラトンボと同じで青白い粉を吹くらしい。

黒いオスばかりいる草むらがあったんだけど、なぜなのかしら。　あんまり逃げなくて、そろっと近づけば翅を触らせてくれた。

Lyriothemis pachygastra, a skimmer dragonfliy species that lives in eastern Asia. This individual is an immature male. This species has a distinctively broad abdomen. His compound eyes are brown, thorax and abdomen are black. His four wings are transparent, and the bases are tinted amber. Like other skimmer dragonfly species, its abdomen becomes covered with pale blue wax particles as it matures. Shot in Fukuoka prefecture, Japan. July 2021. メスの #アリグモ (Myrmarachne japonica)が別の小さいクモを #捕食 するところ。
アリだと思ってそばを通ってしまったんだろうか。　アリグモの #擬態 は捕食者避けのためのものらしいけど、そういうこともあるのかも。

食事中も前足をアリの触角っぽく動かすのを忘れない。

メスの #アリグモ (Myrmarachne japonica)。　かなりアリだけど、よく見ると #クモ 。
鋏角の裏にチラリと見える赤い色がかっこよくて好き。
オスはでっかい牙(鋏角)があって見つけやすい。

実は #ハエトリグモ の仲間なんですって。

It's fair to say that not everyone was convinced by our identification. But now we have a much more complete skeleton, excavated by our UK-Moroccan-US team. Not only does Spicomellus have spikes fused to its dorsal ribs, it has metre-long spikes extending from a cervical half ring

少々理不尽な感じで夏休みも仕事をしなければならなくなり、なんで幸せの与那国島まで来て労働しなきゃあかんのだと早起きして仕事を片付け、眠かったけどせっかくだから散歩に出かけたら、木々の影と日なたの境目で小さなミミズのような生物がまどろんでいた。
なんと、あのミヤラヒメヘビにばったり出会ってしまったのだ。
30cmほどの小さなヘビで普段は地中に潜ってミミズを捕らえているがその生態の多くが謎につつまれている希少な種である。寝ていたパートナーを電話で起こし、「いや、絶対見ておいたほうがいい、今はどんなに恨んでもかまわないから」と呼び寄せじっくり鑑賞。
これは、仕事のおかげと言わざるをえない...

A type of crustacean, approximatly 5 mm in length. Probably Jassa slatteryi, a cosmopolitan species in the sea. It looks like a shrimp, with brown markings on its body, legs and antennae. Its head has two pairs of antennae, one of which is noticeably large. The thorax is segmented, and like a shrimp, each segment has legs, but this animal has two pairs of large and small grasping appendages for capturing food. The abdomen also resembles that of shrimp, but doesn't have tail fan. In Japan, Janualy 2017.

世界中の #海 にいて、人間が食べる海藻によく棲んでいるらしい。　ワカメを洗ったらたくさん出てきて戦慄した。(甲殻アレルギーでなければ無害)

なんてなじみの無い形なんだ…ワンダー…

A type of skeleton shrimp. (Caprella penantis ?) It has slender, segmented body with orange-red markings. The first segment is head and the rest segments are thorax. The last thorax segment is followed by abdominal segment that is very small and almost inviisible. The head has 2 pairs of prominent antennae, small eyes, and a pair of smaller grasping appendages resembling a mantis' foreleg. Actually, the head is fused to the first thorax segment, so the next part with the bigger grasping appendages is the second thorax segment. Each of the third and fourth segments have a pair of paddle-shaped appendages. They are gills. The fifth to seventh segments have flexible appendages with claw-shaped tips. They help to cling to seaweed. In Japan, January 2017.

秋吉台で見つけたのでなにか珍しい花かと思ったら、世界中の温帯地域に生えてるらしい。　日当たりのいい草っ原が好き。

#薬用植物 で、英語ではセルフヒールとかヒールオールとか呼ばれるのだとか。　回復魔法っぽい。

地元では見た覚えがないけど、探せばいるのかしら。

A little plant about 10cm in height. Seven or eight pale violet flowers are blooming around a short, reddish flower spike. The flowers have labiate shape, like sage flower. 何かを念入りに埋めている #ハシブトガラス 。　
草が刺さらないように #瞬膜 を閉じているのがわかる。
あごのところがポコっと膨らんでる #カラス って、あれは単に物が入っていたのか…　ハシブトとハシボソの違いとかだと思ってた。

動物園の敷地内であるせいか、人馴れしていてかなり近づくことができた。

#交尾 中の #ヒメヒラタアブ 属のなかま。　左側がオスで右側がメス。　お腹のかたちがずいぶん違うんだなあ。　別の種類だと思ってた。
#ヒラタアブ のみなさんは幼虫のときはアブラムシとかを食べているらしい。

Two hover flies, a type of Sphaerophoria, is mating on a grass leaf. The one on the left is a male, and the one on the right is a female. They are facing in the opposite direction and are connected at the tip of their abdomen. The male is spreading his wings out to the side , while the female is folding her wings. Both are yellow and black and look similar to bees. The abdomen is striped yellow and black and has the different shape for males and females. The female's abdomen is thicker than the thorax and in rounded shape. The abdomen of males are slender and rod-shaped. The head also differs clearly depending on the gender. The male's compound eyes are larger and look connected to the left and right. Both genders have short, yellow, rounded antennae. Photographed at Fukuoka prefecture in Japan, May 2017.

Its easy to hate mosquito, but its also surprisingly easy to love them, once you meet #Toxorhynchites speciosus! Not only is it a mosquito that eats mosquitos, but its HUGE and colourful :)
