My top song is a 10 minute meditation that I listened to repeatedly while desperately trying to relax in the weeks running up to my first gig in 25 years. I have baffled the algorithm.

So I did that Bluesky word search and it turns out my most used word of the year is haha. Ha fucking ha. Do I worry that people take me too seriously? Yes clearly I do. New Years Resolution: stop it with the haha. Just assume I’m often joking ok.

Could you take a minute and listen to this song I've written? You might like to cover it.
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Earlier in the day, I'd seen someone post an article, The Twenty Most Overrated Albums of 2025, and I glanced at it with an eye roll, KNOWING that the Geese album would be no 1, as indeed it was, and I just thought OH FUCK OFF. Sometimes people are rated because they're fucking fantastic.
Just saw Cameron Winter at the Roundhouse. My god what a phenomenon he is ❤️

Just went to see the film Gaslight, which I haven't watched for decades. When I last saw it, "gaslighting" wasn't a widely used term, and I found myself wondering how on earth younger people started using a term that came from a 1930s play and then film.

We watched this last night and SCREAMED with delight at the glass of fags. Also the fruit cup, the woman dancing with an entire pack of Piccadilly in her right hand, and the agency boss with the flamboyant hairdo, and wife at home, who was *going on somewhere unspecified* after the party.
A nice, refreshing glass of fags in the excellent 1969 Man Alive doc The Office Party on BBC iPlayer.

Brilliant bit of Christmas skullduggery earlier when my daughter videoed her boyfriend's record collection so that I can buy him a couple of albums without doubling up haha

Update: went with our Blake and we got in! My highlight: Weird Fishes
Going to see Radiohead later on so of course last night I dreamt that I'd got there but didn't have my ticket, and then when I did find my ticket it was for Taylor Swift. Good to know that I can have anxiety dreams about other people's gigs as well as my own.

Surely SOMEONE has done a banger of a remix using Charli’s vocal “I think I’m gonna die in this house”
November 18, 2025 at 9:21 AM
So I love this obviously but once Charli starts singing I THINK IM GONNA DIE IN THIS HOUSE I wish it went on for another ten minutes open.spotify.com/track/6lYUgm...

This is v good news. I adore this album. AND the Geese album. It's been such a Cameron Winter year! ❤️
glad that the Cameron Winter album is being counted in the end of 2025 lists what with having been released too late for the Best of 2024 lists

Had fab time at Mac Demarco gig at the Apollo last night. I was literally the only old person in the room, everyone else in their 20s including Blake who is really the target audience. I love the new album though and it was fun being among The Young, watching Mac goofing about doing handstands etc ❤️

For those interested in this kind of thing (ie all of you) this new book by @naomialderman.bsky.social is out now and it's FANTASTIC. Don't Burn Anyone At The Stake today is the title, and it covers the current information crisis we are living through, set in the context of previous ones.
a friend sent me a text just now saying “looks like Tim Davie is being burned at the stake today”

And yeah. This is very much “Thomas Moore is accused of not supporting the break with Rome, find a way to get his head off”. it‘s the information crisis.

Nice!
Well then. A blessing. I was lucky enough to see @ben-watt.bsky.social and @traceythorn.bsky.social #EverythingButTheGirl tonight. A glorious, career-spanning set in a tiny club. Among the most special gigs to which I have ever been ❤️

They’ve got a “Halloween trail” going on up at Kenwood, so it’s all plastic skeletons and polystyrene gravestones everywhere. Looks like a shit Traitors.

Same. I was a million miles from New York City, but I bought a suit jacket to try and look like Annie Hall, and I never stopped loving Diane Keaton. Properly sad she's gone ❤️
Oh man, I loved Diane Keaton— Annie Hall had such a huge influence on me as a teen, everything about her style & her energy, the clothes she wore & the way she talked! She just felt like such a model of New York City intellectual life, jittery & adventurous & original

Currently reading the fantastic John Martyn biog by @graemethomson.bsky.social and walked across Hampstead Heath this morning with this track blasting in my ears. Probably passed the very spot where that cover photo taken. open.spotify.com/track/1ea5h9...

Learning to play a piece called Show-Type Tune by Bill Evans, which is exactly what it sounds like - a kind of *show tune* which is really beautiful but then suddenly a bit *out there* because of course this is Bill Evans. I mean either that or I'm just getting the notes wrong.
