Colleagues, this is important! Not that I ever expect $$ from Anthropic, but it was the first stone to fall. This makes me certain there will be more.

(Context: Anthropic “scraped” all my Louisa Morgan novels without permission, acknowledgment, or compensation.)

SO HEY IT'S SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

Could I perhaps take a moment of your time to tell you about a couple of great little bookstores? I got to visit all of theme recently while doing my up-and-down the coast signing tour and they're all pretty fantastic.

I love Rhea Seehorn unconditionally and to death.

She is an amazing actor and incidentally I could look at her all day.

But still.
In that case, I'm fucked.

It's OK to use Amazon to buy this, because it will help the publisher, @parseconfluenceink.bsky.social, far more than not doing so will hurt Bezos.
"PROMOTE YOUR BOOKS! EVERYONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR PUBLISHED BOOKS!

"gonna be reposting your books because hoo you made a book!"

It's not exclusively mine, but my story "Neither Do They Spin" is IN this book.

I'm also a fan of his Unplugged album, with such a mournful "Mr. Soul."
The stuff with Crazy Horse is always my favorite.

I'm not huge on live albums, but Weld is something I've been listening to for over 30 years with no sign of ever stopping.

I love that he just used to play out of an amp from Sears with the gain dimed out to get that really dreamy overdrive.

Grateful to have had the opportunity to chat with so many fabulous authors about ideas, influences, & writing process over the years! :)

Thanks--I hadn't heard it, but it really is.

Crazy Horse. Grunge, decades ahead of its time.
If someone told me that one of the best Neil Young songs would be from 2012 and titled "Ramada Inn" there'd be a part of me that believed you.

Because that's how he is.

But damn is it great.

I have read ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD more times than I've seen it, which is saying something.
'I write plays because dialogue is the most respectable way of contradicting myself...'

Damn.
RIP Tom Stoppard.

He had a good line in cheekbones and louchly-worn coats; wasn't bad with words either.

I've used up all the stamps I had left over from the Kamala Harris postcard campaign.

Good medium to let your Congress people know how you feel, I'd say.
I send them, but only to folks older than me, I realize.

We need to touch not only grass but books and CDs and DVDs and ...
1 million per cent agree. Same with record stores. And thrifting.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste

He only looks smart because his lies have overwhelmed a political culture that didn’t know how to respond to them. If I were a Trump fan, I’d start worrying about what happens when that stops. trib.al/A5Fl9FU

When Trump insists prices are down, but everyday Americans feel their wallets getting lighter, the disconnect is hard to ignore.

MAGA supporters aren’t waking up because they see through his lies; they’re waking up because we are all feeling the consequences of them.

Why, yes, I *am* virtue-signalling here.

Firstborns get taught to set an example.
I spent all my money yesterday, but in my defense it was at indie places within walking distance of our house in St. Paul.

Cool Japanese Midori notebooks at Wet Paint art supplies, Xmas gift book orders at Next Chapter, and Anthology 4 and misc. used DVDs at Cheapo Records.

I'm just about set.

I watched BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN last night for the first time in years.

Bowled over by just how visually beautiful it is.

The rapid-fire editing during the bride creation sequence was breathtaking.

Also, Dr. Pretorious looked a bit like E.T.A. Hoffman. So appropriate.
