I'm supposed to be at Tales & Tumbleweeds Book Festival today, out in Mesa. Instead my body has betrayed me with weakness and I am glued to the couch. So my husband went in my stead.

Driving to my MIL's house and half way through Alice's Restaurant we realized we forgot to grab the herbals from the fridge. Store or turn around? We turned around. At least we got to hear the whole song.

My birthday yesterday went really well. One thing my husband got me was a few lottery scratchers, and I'm glad I didn't check them until today. Not a single winner among them. It's good I didn't face that disappointment until my birthday was over! 🤣

I actually got a surprise party for my birthday last night. That was pretty awesome! I'm really hopeful that today is nice and quiet, then we can do a small family thing with Thanksgiving, just the way I like.

My birthday is coming up next week, and I am staring at it warily. Birthdays and I don't always get along. It's not the age, I view that as a badge of honor. It's the buildup and inevitable disaster that follows.

Just went through the process of updating all my covers with changes to the title/author fonts effects. Same iconic font, it just looks slightly prettier now (and all volumes will match now instead of The Arcane War being completely different from the rest).

This. It's a little demoralizing sometimes. Writing is a stubborn business, it takes a lot to not give up sometimes.
People see huge backlists and assume that means people are raking in cash but I am telling you, esp writers who have been at it for twenty years: the book you buy might be the only sale for that title all month long. I've got old stuff that only sells one or two copies a year.

I should spend time composing music to go with some lyrics I wrote, too. Maybe that's a tomorrow thing, once I set up my keyboard or tune one of my guitars.
Getting this book out is priority one.

I am so exhausted. Got home from the hospital yesterday. Finally picked up my new glasses today. Went out for brunch with my mother-in-law. Went from enjoying freedom to done with the world at record speed. Been a zombie since. And now my throat is starting to itch. x_x Do not want.
