What a good weekend. On Saturday, the 17 plushies I made to sell at my kid's school fundraiser sold out in 6 minutes, along with all the bracelets they loomed, then I won the "performer of the year" award at my work Xmas party... All expenses paid, 4 day trip to Tasmania next year in the bag.

I asked my 13yo son who would win a fight between a scorpion made of guns and a shark made of electricity and he was still explaining his answer when we got off the bus 10 minutes later.
Talking to 10 year old boys rocks because you ask them shit like who would win in a fight, Godzilla or Optimus prime and they already have an answer and explanation

went out for drinks after graduating (arts/science double majoring in linguistics & behavioural neuroscience), went home with a woman I'd met that night.. In the morning she told me her accountant dad needed a guy to do data entry. That was 28 years ago. I develop and consult on accounting software.

Had my mid-year performance review today. In the document my manager said that while my diligence and hard work is appreciated, I should cut back on after-hours work and focus on a healthy work/life balance, then she scheduled the face-to-face meeting an hour after I normally go home.

Should've gone to bed hours ago. Too late now so I've decided to take more ADHD meds, power through, hit the gym at 6am to get a big pump going and rock up to work in a tight turtleneck, ruining the self-esteem of the obnoxious new HR manager, 15 years my junior who keeps talking about his workouts

The abundance/availability of media has hampered my intake of old, obscure media. When there were 4 tv channels and mum's bookshelves to choose from I read and watched so much random, old stuff that proved to be incredibly good. No idea how anyone would come across 'King Rat' as a teenager now.

Elon Musk, because I'm sure he'd last a day doing my current job then he'd be unemployed, and I could decommission Grok, cancel the cybertruck, hire some POC engineers and spend some money on some deserving issues/projects.

I made what I thought was a fairly clearly sarcastic reply to a post about an Alan Dershowitz essay on lowering the age of consent then went to bed.
Everyone interpreted it as a creepy pro-pedophilia position and I woke up to discover I was the main character. In hindsight it was poorly worded :D

People of earth: you're misusing "the exception proves the rule". Finding a fact that disproves a claim doesn't confirm that claim. Obviously. That's fucking stupid. It means that "no parking between 12pm-6pm" (the exception) proves that you're allowed to park here outside those hours (the rule).
