This is true of those who write for magazines and websites and newspapers too. Being a writer does not, for the vast majority, bring in anywhere near enough money to live on.
almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

With too many six day working weeks I have, at last, time in the mountains (thanks to my busy job) in mid December to do just this. Will need the Big Boots to deal with the snow (and pad around naked in)
Pushing myself to the point of exhaustion along remote and challenging trails, entirely at the mercy at nature, and then returning to a luxurious hotel room where I pad around naked and marvel at what my body is capable of. Those are the days I crave.
