Just a few marks on paper with my Sailor Fude pen filled with Carbon ink; subliminal messages from my brain telling me to go someplace. Anyplace.

I can’t see it with the naked eye, so I just point and click with my phone. Still fun. Comet Lemmon C/2025 A6 down by the treeline

My 2025 Plein Air Grand Marais quick paint sold before I even had much time to look at it :) it was a great week up on the North Shore.

Some of my watercolors from Plein Air Grand Marais 2025. A few cold nights, some rain. After a night of thunderstorms we woke up to pea soup fog. Peaceful, still. And brings its own challenges.

Impressions of the west painted 3 weeks ago in the foothills above Ennis MT and the Madison river. I forgot I did them until I started organizing for a trip coming up. That tells me something important about my process that I’m sure to forget.

Fledgling feeling pretty brave 200 Ft from its nest but still wants mom and dad to bring it some food. (Sound up!)

Back home from 11 days out west, back to mentally cutting down the trees between me and the big lake.

Morning warmup outside Ennis MT. I figure by the time the week is up I will have an understanding of the (visual) language here.

I’d love to see a breakdown of tariff revenue to date. How much has been importers building stock to beat tariffs, how much from various imports. What are importers saying about costs? Have exporters lowered costs or are we eating them? Need some of that Trump admin transparency they boast of.

A little tree study at the soccer fields while I wait for Reed. Beautiful evening, love the chatter of the boys in the distance. Pure summer.

Loosening up, freshening up. Takes directness and patience. Paint a layer with confidence, then eat something. Paint another layer, look at it, go check the fridge again.

Looking for inspiration yesterday I remembered the boathouses on Chequamegon Bay. I haven’t painted in a few weeks — need to shake off the rust. Small watercolor 7x10 arches cold press.

1,000 girls trafficked. Donald Trump could be a real hero and bust this thing wide open! C’mon Donnie! Just think of the accolades! Show us how much you love and respect and protect women!

Patiently waiting for new art supplies that are “out for delivery”, doing more limited palette studies. Looking for a spark.

When I get stuck I order more art supplies, and do limited palette studies while I wait for them to arrive. I finally realized why I have so many art supplies.

Just lazy painting on my sofa. Watercolor tree studies a la Oliver Pyle, looking out my window in a wet morning.
