Built on good old robots.txt, the new open content licensing standard Really Simple Licensing (RSL) adds licensing and royalty terms.

Reddit, Yahoo, Quora, and wikiHow are some of the major brands adopting the standard in hopes AI companies will pay.

This is remarkably sensible and level-headed.
We need politicians who are willing to explore. Even better, we need politicians who are able to do a retro on what did and didn't work.
"What didn’t it do? It didn’t save any time. I read every single transcript to ensure we didn’t miss any questions from constituents...I think the potential is real, even if that’s all it is for now – potential."

A new BBC/EBU study finds half of AI-generated news answers with significant inaccuracies.

now is a really excellent time to set up a monthly Wikipedia donation if you don’t have one already
This is horrifying, but I’m glad the Wikipedians are safe. It could have been far worse, given that the MAGA fascists have been trying to incite violence against Wikipedia editors, and trumpists are defenders of pedophiles like the gunman. gothamist.com/news/gunman-...

The collective term for ladybirds is a loveliness.

Have you noticed that ladybirds have been taking advantage of the dry, sunny conditions to find a sheltered spot to hide for winter? The summer's warm conditions are responsible for this autumn's ladybird explosion.

Decamped to my office in town since my home internet is dead in the great Vodafone outage!

I was surprised their website and customer service lines are completely dead too. No message, nothing. Customers just left with no information except national news. Not great.

It’s clear that the cruelty is the point. Anything to distress, frighten, undermine, create divisions. And the answer has to be to say ‘no’, ‘never’, not ‘this wouldn’t work’. Anything less is complicity.
