A lot of Stephen Miller related stories make me think of this scene from Two Towers just because of the way the guy looks to exploit a vulnerability in the most awful way (Eg the child separation policy). That and he reminds me of Wormtongue generally.

I was never truly alone--& I mean this sincerely--b/c I had my online friends. Social media deserves a lot of criticism but, in my case, it saved my life. The friendships I built on these sites--they saved my life. I will never forget it. Complete social isolation was never possible b/c I had you.

I was never truly alone--& I mean this sincerely--b/c I had my online friends. Social media deserves a lot of criticism but, in my case, it saved my life. The friendships I built on these sites--they saved my life. I will never forget it. Complete social isolation was never possible b/c I had you.

The fact that perpetrators of domestic violence exploit legal systems against their victims has been documented in the research literature. But I do not believe it has been documented well-enough, nor do I believe that it is a phenomenon well-known to the public. I believe this should change.

I have always believed in the truth. I learned, through recovery from other gendered violence--rape as a teenager--that the truth really does set one free. To live in a world without truth is to live in a world of darkness. And, perhaps more importantly, the sharing of truth can help others.

I have escaped from domestic violence. The domestic violence was not just contained to the home, but also involved weaponization of systems. I hope to do a fuller accounting of what happened one day to bring light to this problem. For now, here is my "Thank You" note to Joe Biden & the VAWA.

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

I feel like Nuzzi's chumminess with Rudy Giuliani has not yet shown up in this story. She was vicious about this Joe Biden profile AND ALSO her early stewardship of the Hunter Biden laptop story (which was groundbreaking but which she refused to revisit as we learned more).
Old enough to remember Very Serious Journalists who lapped up the Nuzzi piece on Biden last summer as gospel and if you think anyone in that category is going to offer a mea culpa you’ve got another thing coming.
