It's Transgender Awareness Week. We acknowledge the Transgender, Intersex & Non-Binary individuals of our community.

Every person who comes out or lives their true selves in today's climate of scapegoating hate has more courage than many will ever know.

You are welcome & you are loved. 🖖🏻💚

"...holds 'do MAGA voters care?' as a higher standard than 'is it true?' or 'is it important for the public to know about this?'"

I am guilty of this. My cynical response to most of the Liar-in-Chief's atrocities has been "No one who supports him will care."

Perfect example of political media operating under the post-truth standard that (1) distorts the facts until the parties look approximately equal, and (2) holds “do MAGA voters care?” as a higher standard than “is it true?” or “is it important for the public to know about this?”
Wild to watch playbook run cover for this particular Trump scandal

Now that the Democrats have chickened out it doesn’t feel right calling him TACO any longer. Possible replacements include:

* “Liar-in-Chief”
* “Deadbeat Donald”
* “The Human Comment Section”
* “President Pedo”
* “Wannabe Hitler Jr.”
* “The asshole”

Any other suggestions?

Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to the IRS’s *free* Fillable Forms option, which has been around for years.

If you understand the paper forms, it’s great. It does all the math, and you get the benefit of fast, online filing:

There are very, very few things upon which Republicans and Democrats are in unanimous agreement.

1. Congress always gets paid in full no matter what because Constitution.

2. The primary goal is staying in office, so money is most important because it funds reelections.

3. No third parties ever!
Ranked Choice Voting would give us a viable and less-feckless (filled with feck!) Third Party. How do we get there in my only-decades-left lifetime?

Kobo is doing a 30 day free trial promotion for their Kindle Unlimited competitor service Kobo Plus for new subscribers (not sure if this is US only), if you like queer indie books, small press SFF, and backlist SFF from large publishers there's a lot to choose from on this service that's not on KU!

I see people trying to justify the eight Dems* who broke ranks to support TACO’s wish list with two arguments.

1) The GOP promised a vote on ACA subsidies, so now they’ll have to be on the record!

This Veterans Day I want to acknowledge the Black veterans of WWII who fought fascism and nazism and came home to fight for civil rights and democracy here. New research shows Black veterans were critical in securing the voting rights currently under attack.

BREAKING: SCOTUS leak reveals reason for Kim Davis denial!

Turns out the New Testament explicitly endorses gay marriage. Careful reading discloses multiple references to Jesus marryin’ Joseph.

They could still stop it… but the damage is done. They showed the whole country that TACO and Johnson were right, that the shutdown is the Dems’ fault, and that they could end it whenever they wanted.

That said, they should still stop it.
They haven’t actually voted yet so probably get on the phone if one of those senators is yours.

To be clear, this deal still needs to go through a debate and amendment process and more 60-vote thresholds to pass the Senate, and then it must pass the House. There's still room for constituent pressure.

So if I’m following the latest news correctly: Following an election with massive wins for the Democrats nationwide, and overwhelming rejection of TACO’s narrative that the shutdown is the Dems’ fault…

The FBI warns that criminals are running around in masks falsely claiming to be ICE.

My non-legal opinion is that, if someone in a mask with no uniform and no ID tries to assault and kidnap you or anyone else, then you may exercise your Second Amendment rights with extreme prejudice.

I Accomplished Nothing Today.

I am very proud of this. It has been a long time since my schedule allowed for a day with no responsibilities of any kind, and looking at my calendar I should not expect another this year, so—

Wait. I went grocery shopping.

TACO’s demand for an immediate stay on appeal, meaning no SNAP benefits paid until the appeal is decided: DENIED

How many hours before TACO appeals that ruling directly to SCOTUS, and demands another immediate stay (from the shadow docket) while the Court considers?
