When ice or land is scarce, they use inflatable throat pouches—like built-in air pillows! Holding up to 50 litres of air, these sacs let them drift upright and snooze safely in the freezing Arctic sea ❄️

Beneath the Musk Ox's shaggy coat grows the qiviut — a soft underlayer finer than cashmere and eight times warmer than wool. By late autumn, it’s fully formed, letting these Arctic giants face months of darkness and ice in perfect comfort
