Obviously, it has no capability to do background processing. So there's a bunch of posts from irate users because ChatGPT told them to wait hours/days/weeks while it did absolutely nothing at all 💀

If you’re generating an image for your article with AI, you didn’t need one in the first place

You ever fire up an IDE and then get writer’s block because you don’t know what you want to build, only that you want to build *something*?

Well this was prescient. Big mental health crash and now it’s two months later. Ah well.
Sometimes it’s hard keeping up motivation for things. I want to do so many projects and tasks while keeping the house in order (which it already is not).

I still think the most accurate and consistent way to think about generative AI is that, in every instance, people exclusively use it for tasks that they don't have any respect for or give a shit about.

Today doing Work felt pretty chaotic, and my evening has had zero time for relaxing too. My daughter has been a cutie today though and is currently sleeping on me while I read tech blogs, so it’s not all bad.

It feels weird writing code without tests first. Aah yes I’ll just trust my brain to figure out that this works correctly (?) instead of the safer option: making the computer yell at me if I mess up

Spent a good chunk of today doing Commit Graph Surgery on a messy feature branch and I didn’t consider setting my computer on fire and escaping to the woods even once. At this point you can pry #jj-vcs from my cold dead hands

Inspired by a few blogs I read recently I’m building my own blog in #fsharp and finding it very easy. It’s one of my favourite langs but I don’t use it nearly enough.

Trying to work on being a bit more visible, a bit more public and a bit more vulnerable in life and in my profession. Hopefully I can maintain a vague semblance of a real social media presence here and officially graduate to Real Boy

Extreme Programming is a weird name because it sounds like I’ll be yeeting untested bug fixes into prod while ramping my BMX off a halfpipe and flipping customers the bird, but it’s basically the opposite of that

I think a lot about how everyone has access to a tiny silicon potato chip that processes more information than centuries of human society had, yet all we seem to want to do with it is put tits on spongebob. Scott really captures all these feelings I've had, much more eloquently
I just wanted to say, I’m probably more proud of this Ted talk than just about anything I’ve ever done so I’m gonna be absolutely useless for the next couple of weeks as I promote the shit out of this because I want you to watch it because it matters in the moment we are in youtu.be/dVG8W-0p6vg

For me, one of the best definitions of Test-Driven Development comes from the paper "Mock Roles, Not Objects" by Steve Freeman, Nat Pryce, Tim Mackinnon, Joe Walnes.
