Dear historians,

Is there a trend of “met a dutchman” inflection points in the rise and conquest of world leaders?

If so, is it because these dutchman were influential? or is this like when your friend meets someone interesting, gets inspired, then goes to an exotic resort? And colonises it?

Old take, there are no hidden global elites wielding great power and orchestrating world events.

There are definitely people who think they are though, and they need to knock it off.

I can’t tell what actual problems are, and which are the result of a group of resourceful people acting in anger.

Does it count if i just post “i’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!”? Does this post count? Would be a real time saver. I’m very tired.

Is the behaviour around toilet paper the same exact behaviour as people and housing? There’s enough for everyone but some people bought 5000 rolls for themselves, and then other people did that too. Then people who had none had to beg for 5 sheets from a person who has 5000 rolls?

Modern application design: quick, simple, functional, low dependencies, uses well documented and understood processes. Launch in seconds.

Windows applications: add code to the top of an app written in 1995 that relies on 800 libraries that break standards. Takes 5 minutes to show an error on launch

Anyone else spending most of their time on their phone reverting autocorrections?

Maybe smartphones and 4 companies that control what information we can see wasn’t a good idea.

Servo, Bottle-o, Disco, these are all nouns for places in Australia. Take the most cryptid dialect in Australia and ask them where you go to see a flick, you'll know exactly what they mean. No nickname, no cute aphorism. Thankfully Video came along.

I think Australian cinema should be called Barbie Flicks. Because of their love of shrimp on barbies.
The poster child for Barbie Flicks? You guessed it, America Ferrera.

Watching Studio Ghibli films is now an act of pop-rebellion against AI. My teen self freaking knew this day would come.

Atomfall is brilliant because I get to be in the countryside talking with folk about crimes by the lake. You're also looking for ever-better objects. But never using them because it's more of a hobby, like mushroom hunting. Also it's the apocalypse, but no one updated the character motivations.
