Grab one, and spread the rest of them out.
Definitely. Would have been forgotten by 3pm on Saturday.
Unless you were to take the cynical view that getting on the ballot preclude from playing the victim. In an election that you knew you couldn't win.
But it was possible for other candidates to get on the ballot, if they were prepared to put the effort in. CC started canvassing publicy in July (and possibly privately before that). Mary Robinson started canvassing the January before her win. Not much point showing up the end of August.
Social Democrats backed her first. The Labour Party in Ireland are really Fine Garl light. I suspect their original plan was to sit firmly on the fence.
Does he not know the election is over?
George Thorogood. Never forget George.
Unfortunately, giving a vote to all irish passport holders would leave upwards of 30m with a vote. For a country with an electorate of about 3.5m.
That's the equivalent of 800m being allowed to vote in UK elections.
A bigger issue for the political right is the perception that they couldn't lie straight in bed.
Tres go maith, chicken liathroidi.
You should probably get your information from a more unbiased source.
Have you tried the daily mail, perhaps?
So small that everyone forgets about them. They had one county councillor elected I think. But they left, and advised the few party members that they should join political parties that reflected their beliefs. Or something like that.
Or possibly because if she canvassed in time and got on the ballot she couldn't be a victim. My conspiracy theory for this year.
Most of the spoiled votes appear to be conservative, right wing sulks; who's candidate who would never have won even if they got onto the ballot paper
Let them off.
But Maria Steen would still wait until the last minute.
Not a rare mix at all. 3 out of the last 4 were left wing, and the fourth wasn't bad either.
Isn't hindsight wonderful.
A lot of spoiled votes were for the iona institute who didn't get on the ballot. Mainly because it's easier and more cost effective to hide in the long grass and pretend to be a victim. Sending hugs.
We had a black colouring pencil. But it wasn't tied up. We're very trustworthy around here
Or maybe someone stole the twine.
Same here. But it's hard got a decent crowd for tig these days. Between dodgy hips and bad backs it's more like a deep heat convention.
If Heather Humphreys gets elected tomorrow, will we all have to perform rural pursuits every day?
Well said. Turning up to vote is just as important as who you vote for. There should be a fine for not voting, like in Australia.
If Maria Sheen was serious about getting nominated, she probably should have started canvassing as an independent candidate before the end of August. She got lots more attention for not getting a nomination than she would have by getting a last place finish in the poll, and forgotten next week.
